About Us

Vision

The vision of Valor Preparatory Academy is to develop passionate disciples of Jesus who know the true, do the good, love the beautiful, and are prepared to courageously influence culture for the glory of God.

Mission

The mission of Valor is to provide an excellent education in partnership with our families that is guided by a biblical worldview, the Classical tradition and University Model of schooling.

We aim to develop passionate disciples of Jesus who know the true, do the good, love the beautiful, and are prepared to courageously influence culture for the glory of God.

Values

  • Love God (Matthew 22:36-40)

Demonstrated by unbridled worship of and devotion to God, and wholehearted obedience to His word

  • Love others (Matthew 22:36-40)

Demonstrated by a school culture that is characterized by the “one another” passages in the New Testament, including but not limited to love, harmony, honor, not passing judgment, acceptance, hospitality, unity, service, humility, gentleness, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, exhortation, encouragement, & mutual submission

  • Culture of discipleship (Matthew 28:18-20)

Demonstrated by a commitment to develop everyone associated with Valor as disciples of Jesus – from students and families to administrators and faculty; also demonstrated by connecting the educational process with Jesus’ commission to make disciples of all nations

  • Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)

Demonstrated by Valor staff and students consistently and increasingly exhibit the Spirit’s love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control by abiding in Christ

  • Encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Demonstrated by actively seeking ways to exhort and encourage one another in every circumstance

  • Service (Matthew 20:25-28)

Demonstrated by everyone from students to board members seeking to emulate Christ’s humility in serving one another and the broader community

  • Unity (John 17:20-23)

Demonstrated by a commitment to unify around the person and work of Jesus Christ and the orthodox tenets of the Christian faith as articulated in Valor’s statement of faith; we seek to preserve that unity by not allowing non-essential doctrines to divide us

  • Honor (Romans 12:10)

Demonstrated by consistently referring to the Christlikeness in our brothers and sisters in the Lord; committed to working through our offenses by appropriately going to the person directly

  • Work ethic (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Demonstrated by a diligence to reflect the value of the One we serve by working and studying as unto the Lord

  • Holiness (Matthew 5:8)

Demonstrated by a pursuit of Christlikeness in our speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity

  • Know the true, do the good, love the beautiful (John 1:1-5, 14; Ephesians 1:7-10, Colossians 1:13-20, Hebrews 1:1-3a)

Demonstrated by a commitment to Classical education which is characterized by the pursuit of wisdom and virtue, humility, and the synthesis of knowledge in Christ.  Jesus is the λόγος (logos), or the self-expression of God.  He is the source of the reason and order implicit in the world that gives it form and makes it knowable.

  • Breadth of instructional mediums (Romans 1:20)

Demonstrated by the inclusion of many forms of beauty and sources of learning in the educational process including the wisdom of instructors, great literature, music, nature, art, etc.  Because the world was made through Christ, we see God in the logic of math, the beauty of language, the discovery of the scientific process, and so on.  The educational process is fundamentally an exposition of the character of God

Demonstrated by a commitment to esteem each other’s strengths from a position of security in Christ

  • Fun (Philippians 4:4)

Demonstrated by consistent joy, hope, and lightheartedness; periodic events of various sizes designed to bring people together.

THE BOOKS
The first quadrant represents wisdom, truth and knowledge. In  Proverbs 3:13 we are told, “How blessed is the man who finds  wisdom and the man who gains understanding.”

THE CROWN
The second quadrant represents our identity in Christ as royalty  and co-laborers with Him, being empowered and having authority  to go into the world to influence culture for the glory of God. 1 Peter  2:9 reminds us,”You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy  nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the  excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

THE STRIPES
The third quadrant represents excellence, doing all things to the best of our ability. Colossians 3:23 encourages us, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

THE CROSS
The fourth quadrant represents our love for Jesus and our commitment to follow him and make disciples. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

THE SHIELD & SWORD
These represent God’s call to his followers to take up the shield of faith and sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, as we pursue Him, navigate the world and resist the schemes of the enemy. Ephesians 6:14-19 exhorts us, “In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,  praying at all times in the Spirit…make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.”

THE BANNER
As a banner over all the symbols of the Valor crest, we aim to courageously follow Jesus and bear His image to the world, pursue Godly wisdom, make disciples, and do all things with excellence, as an overflow of our love for Him.

Our Statement of Faith is fundamental to basic Christian tenets and contains those doctrines to which we unreservedly adhere and teach.  It is our desire to maintain this position, remaining united in the salvation and love of Christ and avoiding the dissension which may be caused by denominational distinctives.

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-16; 2 Peter 1:21).
  2. We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons–Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).
  3. We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).
  4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith alone we are saved (John 3:16-19; 5:24; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5).
  5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the eternal separation from God (John 5: 28-29).
  6. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28).
  7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8: 13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30;5:18).
  8. We believe that marriage is the God-ordained uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime and that sexual intimacy is a gift designed for the marriage relationship only (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Hebrews 13:4).
