Valor Traditions

Valor has a vibrant community full of longstanding, meaningful traditions. Here are some of the most notable.

Rhetoric School Retreat

Every Fall our Rhetoric School students & faculty escape to a rustic spot outside of Waco to enjoy a time of building lasting memories and meaningful relationships. The getaway includes times of worship and reflection, long talks around the campfire and of course, lots of fun games, laughter and delicious food.

Family Week

Every year we dedicate a week to encourage, honor and enjoy our families, both at home and school. This week is filled with fun family activities: family hikes and mountain biking in Cameron park, a family-wide Valor soccer game, coffee for moms in the Valor Village, a Baylor basketball with dads and much more. Valor is a family- focused community and we love having fun and building memories with our Valor family.

Baylor Homecoming Parade

Every October our students come together and join the city of Waco and Baylor University in the oldest and largest homecoming parade in the country. Valor students and parents have a blast decorating our school float and participating in the famed parade as it’s viewed by thousands through downtown Waco and across the Baylor campus.

Christmas School-Wide Day of Decorating

Every year the Valor family bands together to transform our school campus into a Christmas wonderland.  With hot chocolate and candy canes in hand, our animated students don the school rooms and halls with Christmas trees, garland, snowflakes, twinkle lights, tinsel and much more! It’s a tradition that adds joy and wonder to the hearts of our students as we await the celebration of our Savior.

Christmas Celebration

Before dispersing for Christmas break, the Valor family comes together to celebrate the coming of our Savior. Songs are sung, poems are delivered, and festive treats are enjoyed by all.

Grandparent's Day

Grandparent’s Day is a beloved tradition in our Grammar School community. It’s a day full of imaginative costumes, beautiful songs and recitations, and treasured time with our cherished eldest family members.

End of Year Balloon Surprise Activities

During the last few weeks of every school year, surprise school-wide activities are revealed when balloons are popped that include long-awaited mystery events. Some of the most memorable days have included on-campus camp outs with tents, flashlights, s’mores and great books, decades dress-up day, crazy hair day and more.

Dia Del Knights

Dia Del Knights is a favorite holiday for our Valor community taking place on the last day of school.  It’s a memorable day that brings lots of smiles, laughs and cheers to our students and teachers as they throw water balloons, play crazy games, dunk faculty in the tank, engage in epic tug of war competitions and much more!
