What are You Saying?

Our words have POWER!! What we say has a great impact in our lives, our husbands’ lives, our children’s lives, and our world around us!  We are literally making declarations every time we speak, whether for good or evil, whether for truth or falsehood, whether for what we want to see come to pass or what we say but don’t really want to be fulfilled…

Proverbs 18:12 tells us that “Life and Death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it (life or death will indulge it) and will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.” Amplified Version

David wrote in the psalms, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable and pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my [firm, immovable] rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14Amplified Version

St. Peter wrote, “Never retaliate when someone treats you wrongly, nor insult those who insult you, but instead, respond by speaking a blessing over them—because a blessing is what God promised to give you. For the Scriptures tell us: Whoever wants to embrace true life and find beauty in each day must stop speaking evil, hurtful words and never deceive in what they say. Always turn from what is wrong and cultivate what is good; eagerly pursue peace in every relationship, making it your prize.” 1 Peter 3:9-11 Passion Translation

There is an old saying you may have heard before:

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words;

watch your words, they become your actions;

watch your actions, they become your habits;

watch your habits, they become your character;

watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”

Last week, the focus was on what we hear, for what we listen to penetrates our thoughts. Our thoughts come out in our words, and our words FORM our world!

Therefore, our declarations should be for good and not evil, to build up and encourage, to say what we WANT to see happen in our lives, in our children’s lives, in our future!  We must agree with what the WORD OF GOD says about us, and we must speak it out of our mouth so that our ears can hear the truth. There are so many scriptures on our words and thoughts, and on God’s thoughts and words toward us. Look them up, do a scripture word study, and then use God’s Word to make declarations over your life and your world!

Our children quote declarations from scripture at every chapel and memorize God’s Word as a part of memory work. I believe God wants to encourage us to do the same. Additionally, there are excellent books on the topic by many authors but two favorites are Charles Capps and Steve Backlund.

Steve shares, “Through declarations (intentionally speaking God’s truth aloud over ourselves, circumstances, people we love, etc.), God has given us a powerful, practical tool to renew our minds and direct the course of our lives with our words. Declarations have the power to increase our level of faith to propel us to experience all that Jesus has won for us. ‘Faith comes by hearing,'(Romans 10:17). We won’t have something just by saying something, but saying something is necessary to having something. We believe that nothing happens in the Kingdom unless a declaration is made.”

Don’t wait until you are sick to speak healing scriptures over yourself, or wait until you need money to declare financial blessing! God wants us to align our hearts and our mouths with his truth and release it into our atmosphere!  So what are you waiting for?  Say Something Positive and Powerful!!

Wow, am I convicted about my words! I hope this will encourage and challenge you as it has me!Blessings on your week and email with a prayer request or praise report!
